Please listen to the advert by clicking the title of this post and let us know what you think by making a post.

The advert will feature at various times on the Bay, CFM and Lakeland Radio from 13 April to May 2009.

The promotional plan

The plan to generate additional enquiries for part time courses includes press advertising week commencing 20 April 2009 in the Cumberland News, Westmorland Herald, Times and Star, Whitehaven News and the Lancaster Guardian. The adverts will be posted on this blog soon as will the posters that will be placed in work places across our area.

Potential students will also be targeted by local radio advertising on the Bay, CFM and Lakeland Radio starting 13 April 2009. Once again, the adverts will be posted on this blog.

Everyone who sees or listens to our adverts will be signposted to a specially created web page on our website which will be created to assist converting the enquiry to an applicant.

Once there, they will be able to listen to part-time students talking about their experience of studying with us and find out all they need to know about their chosen part - time course. The page will be interactive with visitors able to post comments or questions using a blog.

How we will additionally market part-time provision

All part-time courses from FE, to undergraduate to post graduate and everything in between will be promoted. Potential students will be carefully targeted by local press adverts, local radio adverts, public relations, web activity and posters placed with significant employers which will signpost them to a specially created web page. The page will feature podcasts of real life part-time students talking about their experience, a link to a search for part time course options, details of costs and how to apply. Visitors to the site will also be able to post their comments and questions on a blog which will encourage electronic word of mouth promotion. Making full use of the web in this way will allow us to accurately track response to thecampaign.

The university promotion trailer will also visit town and city centre locations in Carlisle, Lancaster, Penrith, Workington and Barrow to support the other activity.

Part-time marketing campaign launches late April 2009

Part-time courses are due to receive an additional promotional boost with the launch of a dedicated promotional campaign which launches in late April 2009. The extra work is in addition to scheduled activity that includes prospectuses, outreach work, public relations, web and eZines. The costs of the campaign will be resourced by re-prioritising expenditure in existing MRC budgets.

Welcome to the part-time campaign blog

Please use this blog to keep up to date with the 2009 campaign to promote part-time courses. We aim to generate more enquiries for part-time courses so please comment or leave a question here.

The 2009 promotional campaign is an annual programme that is timed to coincide with customers seeking information about part-tme courses starting in September.

As a university, we are moving towards offering more part-time courses to assist our widening participation agenda. Part-time provision also helps busy professionals to enhance their professional and personal development with CPD and additionally, allows a wide range of people to experience a university FE, undergraduate or post graduate course where family and work commitments would not allow a full time commitment. Finally, we have a wide range of part-time opportunities for up skilling in the down turn.
